To celebrate 40 years of Star Wars being produced in the UK as well as the release of The Last Jedi, GREAT partnered with Disney and De La Rue (the world’s leading provider of printed currency) to produce 1,000 limited edition commemorative Star Wars bank notes.
The quote “Light, darkness, a balance” inspired the design. Each side of the bank note represents a different side of the Force. But there’s a twist – once the note is placed under UV light the battle begins.
The campaign raised more than £186,000 for the children’s charity Together for Short Lives. The initiative was supported by the cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi: they were signed by Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Andy Serkis, Adam Driver and Rian Johnson to aid in the fundraising efforts. Oh, and it won Silver at the Clio Entertainment Awards.
